Our paper titled “Maximizing methane and hydrogen delivery capacity by carbon and boron nitride nanoscrolls” has been published online in the journal “International Journal of Hydrogen Energy”, accessible at https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijhydene.2024.11.138

This study explored the CH4 and H2 storage potential of carbon and boron nitride (BN) nanoscrolls, aiming to optimize their structure to align with DOE targets. Computational simulations indicated that while larger interlayer spacings boost gas adsorption, meeting DOE targets for CH4 remains challenging. BN nanoscrolls showed superior adsorption, particularly at low pressures, but carbon nanoscrolls had better gas release. For H2, both nanoscroll types met DOE targets with sufficient interlayer spacing. Carbon nanoscrolls achieved optimal CH4 delivery at 248 K, with capacities of 0.275 g/g and 182 cm3/cm3, and for H2, exceeded DOE targets with 8.26 wt% and 0.044 kg/L. The research underscored the critical role of structural optimization, which significantly enhanced delivery capacities for both gases.
